2023 Blue Mountains Gutsy Challenge
Join our one-day Blue Mountains Gutsy Challenge trek to raise much-needed funds for Gastro-Intestinal (GI) cancer research! Departure date Saturday 16th September 2023.
Your adventure starts early in the morning in Katoomba, where you will begin a 15km trek along the Grand Cliff Top Walk. This walk is currently being upgraded as part of a partnership between NSW National Parks and the Blue Mountains City Council.
This new and exciting route will travel between two of the largest waterfalls in the region – Katoomba and Wentworth Falls.
Along the way you will experience the spectacular Jamison Valley from atop of its towering escarpments, visiting numerous vantage points offering uninterrupted views of the natural wonders of this unique area – The Three Sisters, Mount Solitary and Narrow Neck Plateau.
After the walk we will all gather back in Katoomba for a group dinner at a local restaurant.
The funds that you raise in your Gutsy Challenge will support the Innovation Grant which provides researchers with the opportunity to conduct ground-breaking research into GI cancers. It is an important early step in the process to develop new, lifesaving clinical trials and improve treatment options for GI cancer patients.
COST: $175
FUNDRAISING TARGET: $750
We acknowledge the Aboriginal Dharug, Gundungurra, Wanaruah, Wiradjuri, Darkinjung and Tharawal Nations as the traditional owners of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area.

Where will I be staying?
As this is a one-day trek, accommodation is not included in the cost of the tour. This gives you the flexibility to stay overnight if you choose to, or head back home after the trek.
Is lunch provided?
Yes. We will provide a gourmet sandwich of your selection which will be prepared by a local deli. This will be given to you at the start of the walk to carry in your day pack. You will need to provide your own snacks.

You will carry your own daypack which should include sun protection, insect repellent, a rainproof jacket, water, lunch (a sandwich provided by us), camera and any snacks you may like to bring.
How fit do I need to be?
You will need a reasonable level of fitness to walk on the trail. You should be able to walk on a variety of surfaces: inclines, declines, rocks, steep sections and loose ground. We recommend you do some hilly walks (up to 15km) before this trip to maximise your enjoyment of the climbs and views.

The funds your raise will be used to support GI cancer clinical trials research through the Innovation Grant.
This grant is awarded annually and supports critical, early stage research, which can help to improve the quality of life of GI cancer patients.
