Following on from the 2022 Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Friday 13 May, AGITG today announces the retirement of Ms Christine McNamee Liddy AO, FAICD, BA and the appointment of Professor Robert Ramsey as Board Director. The retirement and appointment were both effective as at the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting.

AGITG Chair Dr Lorraine Chantrill said that Ms Liddy has made outstanding contributions to the organisation over the years, since joining the Board in 2006. Ms Liddy’s most significant contributions were made in her roles as the Chair of the Public Affairs, Marketing and Fundraising Committee, Chair of the Corporate Governance Committee, and Member of the Finance and Risk Management Committee.

“Christine has brought a wealth of experience from the Royal Flying Doctor Service and numerous board and chair roles in for profit and not-for-profit organisations,” said Dr Lorraine Chantrill. “Christine has provided years of outstanding service to the GI community, through her strategic leadership in the early days of AGITG/GI Cancer Institute. She has been integral to its development and has continued to provide valuable counsel to the board and our staff.”

“Everyone of us who knows Christine personally admires her for her dedication to AGITG and the GI Cancer Institute. I want to publicly thank Christine for her service and dedication to our mission to put patients with gastro-intestinal cancer at the centre of our research, saving and improving lives by accelerating the pace of discoveries that lead to cures. The GI cancer community will continue to benefit from her valued leadership.”
