Running for GI Cancer at Sydney City2Surf

Congratulations to the ‘Cancer can’t kill hope’ team that ran in the Sun-Herald Sydney City2Surf in August 2012. The team of eight raised nearly $9000 for gastro-intestinal cancer research.

“The race was so much tougher than I expected. It was my first City2Surf and I’m no long distance runner,” said Mel Shishkin, who ran as part of the team. “At the 4km mark I felt fantastic, when I reached Heartbreak Hill I was in a bit of pain and  by the 11km mark I felt like collapsing. However, I finished the race in 1h 54mins and I am thinking of doing it again next year.”
