The AGITG Sample Access Program
Purpose
The purpose of the Sample Access Program is to develop GI Cancer translational research by providing access to stored biological specimens acquired from AGITG trials that have already closed.
The Translational Research Report
The Translational Research Report lists the biological samples collected from completed AGITG trials and are accessible in the AGITG GI Cancer Biobank.
Cost Recovery Program
The AGITG has implemented a new cost recovery schedule for researchers applying to access material and data from the AGITG GI Cancer Biobank. The schedule is reviewed annually, and charges are current as of November 2022. Please download and carefully read the AGITG Cost Recovery Guidelines prior to submitting your application.
Sample access procedure
Translational Research Report
The Translational Research Report will list the biological samples available for access. The report will include the following details:
- Trial name
- Types of specimens included in TR collection
- Status of specimen collection
- AGITG translational sub-studies using these specimens
Please familiarise yourself with the list of samples available prior to submitting an Expression of Interest form.
Please complete the application form on this page with the key details needed to assess your request for AGITG biospecimens. The AGITG Translational Research Coordinator will then contact you if further information is required to progress your application. Your EOI request will be reviewed by the AGITG Translational Research Committee (TRC) and the Study Chair from the trial during which the specimens were collected.
If the EOI is approved to progress, the Researchers will be invited to submit an Application to access the AGITG trial samples. Researchers are invited to submit an application form to access the biospecimens detailing:
- Details of the translational concept
- Ethics approval
- Availability of funding
- Timeframe for anticipated commencement and completion of the substudy
- Type and volume of biospecimens required, including estimate of remaining sample after use
The application will be reviewed by the AGITG TRC and the relevant Trial Study Chair at the next TRC meeting. Investigators will be invited to briefly present their concept to the TRC and Study Chair at this meeting. Concepts will be assessed based on:
- Scientific merit
- Feasibility
- Alignment with AGITG Research Strategy and Priorities
- Ability to build research or capacity for AGITG
Approved concepts will be required to adhere to the AGITG Publications Policy and AGITG Biospecimen and Data Sharing Policy. Payment for access to these samples, in line with the AGITG Cost Recovery Guidelines, and a fully executed Material/Data Transfer Agreement will need to be completed prior to transfer of samples to the Researcher’s laboratory.
