In Memory of an Incredible Woman

Margaret Walters lived an active life. She balanced work while raising her two children. She was disciplined and strong but instilled in her children the importance of family.

Margaret met her husband, Alan, in late 1980 and the two wed in early 1983. Together, Margaret and Alan built their one and only family home and raised their two children, Scott and Maxine. Margaret was thrilled when she then became a first time grandmother in 2020 to Audrey.

In the early hours of 29 September 2021, Margaret sadly passed away from colorectal cancer. She passed peacefully in her family home in the company of those she loved most. She was only 68 years old.

For Margaret, every Christmas was a cause for celebration, a time to eat and drink together, to wear Santa hats in extreme heat and share lots of laughs with her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends this Christmas.

The photo of Margaret and her granddaughter Audrey was taken only two weeks prior to Margaret’s passing.

To honour her memory, the Walters family has created an In Memory fundraising page to raise much needed funds for new research into gastro-intestinal cancers.

“We will create a future for Audrey’s generation where colorectal cancer is fought with a greater set of tools, and where many happy Christmases are celebrated together with their families,” say Margaret’s family.
